Throughout the years Jamie has realized that there is a real lack of horses available for the person who would love a sane but athletic, good looking partner to enjoy a variety of disciplines. It seems that many horses these days are trained to do well in only one discipline. What we are trying to create at HGF is a well conformed, sane athlete that can trail ride one day, horse show the next, attend a clinic and all at the same time be a best friend! We will be hand selecting a few very special horses a year that we will take from the ground up whether it's been ridden for years or never been started!
Our training program includes but is not limited to "conversation" round pen training, groundwork concentrating on being able to place the feet, lunging, desensitizing, flat work including flying lead changes (depending on age), jumping, cow working, trail riding, horse showing, attending clinics and possibly being demonstration horses.
Our mission is to produce a very consistent type of horse with training and a language that is dependable and easy to understand. If you purchase an HGF Sporthorse we require that you spend a little time learning the language and tools that we have given these horses. Otherwise both horse and human are trying to "figure" each other out despite the training. This getting to know you time is valuable and sets the match out on the right foot.
Jamie is also available after the sale for questions and assistance as the match develops their own partnership. Horse shopping can be extremely difficult and frustrating due to the lack of well trained, sane, athletic horses available at reasonable prices. We try to take the guess work out of selecting the right horse and then installing the tools and training that make for a successful career in any discipline.
